Behind the scenes: Writing The Viper’s Bloodline Awakened

Hey there, fellow readers!

I can’t believe I’m sitting down to write this post about The Viper’s Bloodline Awakened, the fifth book in my fantasy series, The Gods’ Scion. It feels like just yesterday I was scribbling down notes for the first book, dreaming of family drama, mythical creatures, and complex characters with hearts of gold (or sometimes, hearts of stone). And now, here we are, five books deep, and let me tell you, this one has been a wild ride!

First, I have to share a little secret: writing The Viper’s Bloodline Awakened was both exhilarating and absolutely terrifying. You see, by the time you get to the fifth book in a series, there’s this enormous pressure to keep the story fresh and stay true to the world and characters that readers have fallen in love with. It’s like juggling flaming swords while riding a unicycle on a tightrope—thrilling but nerve-wracking!

So, let’s dive into the behind-the-scenes magic. The idea for this book actually came to me during a late-night brainstorming session. Picture this: it’s 10 PM (late, I know), and I’m cozied up in my favorite oversized sweater, a steaming mug of tea beside me. The house is silent, and my mind buzzes with a million possibilities. Suddenly, it hits me – a twist so unexpected, so electrifying that it makes me sit up straight, spilling a bit of tea in the process.

From then on, I knew The Viper’s Bloodline Awakened would be special. The next few months were a blur of writing marathons fueled by copious amounts of coffee and the occasional night snack. I’d wake up with ideas scribbled on napkins, sticky notes plastered all over my desk, and the incessant hum of my keyboard as the story unfolded.

Write On!

One of the most rewarding parts of writing this book was diving deeper into the backstory of our enigmatic protagonist, Rodrick. He’s always been a fierce prince with a mysterious past, but in this book, I wanted to peel back the layers and reveal the vulnerability beneath his tough exterior. It was challenging but also incredibly fulfilling to explore his struggles, fears, and, ultimately, her growth. There were moments when I’d be typing away, tears streaming down my face, completely immersed in his world. Those are the moments that remind me why I love writing so much.

Of course, no writing journey is complete without a few bumps along the way. There were days when the words just wouldn’t come, when I’d stare at a blank screen, feeling like a fraud. But every time I hit a roadblock, I’d remind myself why I started this journey in the first place—to create a world where magic is real, courage is tested, and anyone can be a hero. And that’s what kept me going, even on the toughest days.

Now, as I can share The Viper’s Bloodline Awakened with all of you, I’m filled with a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. I hope this book resonates with you, that it takes you on an unforgettable adventure and leaves you feeling inspired and uplifted. Remember, no matter where you are in your own journey. You have the power to overcome obstacles, to chase your dreams, and to write your own story.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey with me. Here’s to many more adventures together!

With love and gratitude,

Winnifred
